Yahrtzeit Calculator

Observing yahrtzeit is a meaningful way to honor the memory of a loved one and elevate their neshama through acts of zechus (merit). Through learning Torah, reciting Kaddish, lighting a yahrtzeit candle, and giving tzedakah, we strengthen our connection to the departed and reinforce our own spiritual growth. This day serves as a reminder of the lasting impact of a person’s life and the eternal bond between this world and the next.

Enter the civil date of departure and our
calculator will provide the Yahrtzeit dates.

Instructions

  • If the passing occurred between sunset and nightfall (בין השמשות), determining the proper yahrtzeit may depend on halachic factors. Please consult a competent halachic authority for guidance.

  • When a passing takes place in Adar of a non-leap year, this calendar lists the yahrtzeit in Adar I during a leap year. However, there are differing halachic opinions — some consider both Adar I and Adar II as possible yahrtzeit dates. In such cases, it is strongly recommended to consult a halachic authority.

  • In situations where burial was delayed more than one day after passing, some halachic authorities consider the date of burial to be the yahrtzeit — but only for the first year. This calendar reflects the date of passing for all years. For clarity on what to observe, please speak to a knowledgeable halachic authority.

  • This calendar does not yet fully account for deaths that occurred on the 30th of months that sometimes contain only 29 days (Cheshvan, Kislev, and Adar). These cases involve complex halachic considerations, and we recommend consulting a qualified halachic authority for proper observance.
